LEADERSHIP TRAINING

This Community Leadership course is developed and inspired for individuals who work within communities as advocates and change makers. The course is based upon the concept of sharing experiences and best practice with peers. The course uses action reflection and explores management concepts of the community educator Mary Parker Follett (1868 to 1933); a woman recognised as ahead of her time in management science and whose ideas are hugely pertinent to the community sector today. Our role is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge on a peer to peer basis and support learners in developing new and innovative solutions to current issues.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

AND ADVOCACY

We engage in community outreach and advocacy work to facilitate dialogue and encourage voluntarism for better literacy in multiple areas including economics, languages, business, finance, etc. We do this through various community based initiatives and programmes that involve youth leaders.

We organize youth-led events that facilitate the production of knowledge, co-creativity and a solution oriented dialogue on current issues important to the community. The goal is to bring many perspectives to bear on one problem to improve on it.

YOUTH-LED DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS

The Life Skills Centre was established in direct response to the community's need for business and technical skills training. However, the pedagogy, curriculum and instructional approach are tuned specifically to suit local preferences and requirements. The instructors are trained in-house to ensure their proficiency with teaching skills and the teaching material. Centre programming is decided at the management level and in consultation with specialists such as K-Hub members.

By appointment only, trainers associated with our programmes are available for one-to-one or group counseling sessions to advise on types of career choices whether you are a newbie, looking for a mid-career switch or getting back into the job market.

Ethical and social responsibility are core to leadership and sustainable growth in any community. Navigating the complexities of policy making and maintaining governance structures can be a daily challenge. These courses explore what ethical behaviour is and how it can be practiced.

We work with associates to provide specialist training in areas such as communications, project management, financial management, public speaking, sales and marketing, etc.

Education for Entrepreneurs taken from case studies, academic research and practical vocation skills. Subjects include managerial and supervisory skills, budgeting and accounting, business planning and entrepreneurship skills.

Future proofing job security by improving skills in managing technology, implementing change and information system literacy. Courses range from appreciation classes, to skills acquisition to strategic management.

We are curating a repository of information on literacy training in different disciplines that is available for research. We are available to develop education programmes or make referrals where necessary and possible.
